Burress Indicted, Faces 15 Years

Share

(Newser) – Former New York Giants receiver Plaxico Burress was indicted on gun charges today in New York, where he accidentally shot himself in the leg with an unlicensed handgun in November, the Post reports. Burress is charged with two felony counts of criminal possession and one count of reckless endangerment, a misdemeanor. If convicted, Burress, 31, could face 15 years in prison.

“At the time the defendant shot himself, he was not licensed to carry,” Manhattan DA Robert Morgenthau says. “We conducted a thorough investigation and then presented the evidence to the grand jury.” Burress’ Glock pistol memorably discharged when it fell from his sweatpants in the lobby of a nightclub. “I’m truly remorseful for what I’ve done, for what happened,” he told grand jury last week.

If you can hit and kill somebody with your car while you're drunk (dante stallworth) and only serve 15 days then there is no way this guy should go to jail. Reply

Yeah, that's actually a good point. They should both be in jail.
