Worldwide Outage Stymies PayPal Customers

(Newser) – Online pay service PayPal was down for about five hours today, the Wall Street Journal reports, potentially derailing millions of transactions. A rep for parent eBay attributed the outage to an “internal network hardware issue,” and couldn’t say how many customers were affected; PayPal has previously said it processes about $2,000 in transactions each second.

Do not ever trust your money to PayPal. If you ever end up with money in a paypal account take it out immediately they will find a reason to close the account and take your money. It happened to me and i started looking for solutions and found literally hundreds of other people who had the same thing happen to them. Not really relevant to the story i know but i just like to warn people every chance i get. Reply

Oh, I have a PayPal account as well and have never had a problem. But I have read about the problems others have had, and it is a systemic (or systematic???) problem. The client does not have the protections he or she would have with a bank. If PayPal screws you over, you have almost no one to complain to. Be wary.

Nothing, i went to that site, it's a timer counting down to sept 2nd... thats it. So i checked Yahoo answers and basically the consensus was that the whole thing is absolutely meaningless. Cool thats fifteen minutes i'll never get back.

I've had Paypal for years and am satisfied with these folks. I no longer tie up my money by maintaining a cash balance on the account, instead I authorize Paypal to pull the money out of my checking account once I conduct a transaction - I've never had a problem. Reply

I love paypal too but once they held my monies in a transaction and i complied with all the stuff they wanted from me to verified stuff and they immediately released the money and another time a customer complained to his credit card over a transaction but i had the mans signature on a online agreement and i won the case and Paypal so far is very cool with me!
