Apple Sought Gag Deal Over Exploding iPod
An Apple customer said he threw an overheating iPod Touch out of his back door, and "within 30 seconds there was a pop, a big puff of smoke and it went 10 feet in the air."   (©The_Ladd)

Apple tried to silence an angry British father and daughter with a gag order after the girl's iPod Touch exploded and "went 10 feet in the air," said the dad. The company offered a full refund of $275 for the music player, but only if the two agreed to sign a confidentiality agreement about the settlement—which threatened a lawsuit if they talked, reports the Times of London. "We didn’t ask for compensation, we just asked for our money back," the father said.

This is not the first report of an exploding iPod. In March, an Ohio mother brought suit against Apple after her son's player blew up in his pocked and burned his leg. Japan has reported 13 cases of exploding iPod Nanos.
