Best Cities for Good Eats

Local cuisine is ranked

Share

(Newser) – Paris is for lovers—food lovers. The city came in first on a Forbes list of the world’s best cities for eating well, based on a 2009 survey ranking 50 cities. Notably absent from the top 10 are New York and London, which don’t boast much of a “local” cuisine. A sampling, along with some favorite regional dishes:

  1. Paris: Steak frites; sourdough; chocolate tarts
  2. Rome: Square slices of pizza with zucchini; gelato; Caprese sandwiches

  1. Tokyo: Sashimi; gyoza; tempura; street food like Gyudon
  2. Mexico City: Tamales; poblano; hot chocolate
  3. Barcelona: Seafood paella; codfish salad; many different tapas
  4. Madrid: More tapas; chickpea stew; hot chocolate; churros
  5. Hong Kong: Dim sum; Tandoori-style chicken; wonton noodles
  6. Beijing: Peking duck; beggar’s chicken; turtle soup; bear’s paw
  7. Milan: The calzone-like panzerotti; charcoal grilled beef; pizza dough draped with prosciutto
  8. Shanghai: Hairy crab; pan-fried buns stuffed with pork and gelatin

MAD do you see racists everywhere? What is wrong with you? I realize everything is relative, but where are you coming from? BTW which party has the most former and current Klan members in congress anyway? Reply
