(NEWSER) - A cute moment during today's early morning Emmy nominations : Melissa McCarthy, who was announcing the nominations alongside Joshua Jackson, struggled to keep her emotions in check after learning she herself had been nominated as lead actress in a comedy series for Mike & Molly. Other nominees included such familiar faces as Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin for 30 Rock and Steve Carell for his last season on The Office. Fan favorite Betty White even scored a supporting actress nod for Hot in Cleveland. Top series contenders include Glee, Modern Family, The Big Bang Theory, 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation, and The Office for comedy. He says Tina Fey will go on to direct, write films

(NEWSER) - Alec Baldwin was honored last night at the National Dance Institute's fundraising fete, but that's not what's making headlines today. Instead, it's one little comment Baldwin made about 30 Rock, telling New York that "next year is our last year of the show." The magazine notes that Baldwin has talked of leaving the show in 2012, but has never before mentioned that the show itself might end. More»

SNL impersonation may have hurt 30 Rock ratings, Fey writes

(NEWSER) - Tina Fey's new memoir Bossypants deals with stardom, sexism, and, to nobody's surprise, Sarah Palin. ABC breaks out a few nuggets from the new release:

• "Some may argue that exploiting Governor Palin and her family helped bring attention to my low-rated TV show," Fey writes of 30 Rock. "I am proud to say you are wrong," she writes. "My TV show still enjoys very low ratings. In fact, I think the Palin stuff may have hurt the TV show. Let's face it, between Alec Baldwin and me there is a certain 50% of the population who think we are pinko Commie monsters."

Sitcom star will depart after upcoming season

(NEWSER) - Ending weeks of speculation , Steve Carell has confirmed that he'll leave The Office when his contract expires at the end of the 2010-2011 season. "I just think it's time," the sitcom star tells E! "When I first signed on I had a contract for seven seasons, and this coming year is my seventh. I just thought it was time for my character to go."
