Internet Freebies Whack Porn Biz

(Newser) – The American porn movie biz is not so hot anymore, and the recession isn't the only reason. Porn entrepreneurs say free content on the Internet is horning in on their business, reports the Los Angeles Times. "The opportunities in this industry really are disappearing," said a star of several hard-core porn films. "It's extremely stressful." Revenue for most porn production and distribution companies has dropped as much as 50% since 2007, say insiders.

At least five of the 100 top websites in the US, including YouPorn and RedTube, offer free porn. Some of the content is amateur work and much of it is pirated. "It's the free stuff that's killing us, and that's not going away," said the owner of porn production company Combat Zone. Another industry insider grumbled: "It never crossed our minds we'd be competing with people who just give it away for free."

i also think that you are missing the point of these people who are choosing to do what they love as a professional business to educate and help fully functioning adults with fantasies. Of course they are sluts, they are paid to be just that. there is nothing wrong with people being sexually active enough to make a career out of it. but that isnt here nor there. the topic at hand is what the internet is doing to not only the porn industry, but also the Music, Game, and film industries as well. pirated material makes every industry mix things up and start thinking for themselves instead of crating this cookie cutter, template bullsh*t material we find throughout everywhere and washed till its diluted and non effective to the consumer. With the way everything has become digital nowadays, production cost should be at an all time low, plenty enough to get the creative juices flowing and out of the gutter of this crap reality based genre theyve been in since the discovery of bang bus.
