Dude! Deadheads Get Own Channel

Posted Aug 29, 07 4:25 PM CDT in US Technology Arts & Living

(Newser) – Twelve years after Jerry Garcia's death, the band is getting back together—on satellite radio. Sirius will launch a channel that's all Grateful Dead, all the time on September 7, kicking off with a legendary 1974 performance at the Hollywood Bowl. "This is gonna be one fun channel," says guitarist Bob Weir.

Weir, Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart, and Bill Kreutzmann will occasionally host shows, and the content will include unreleased material and archival interviews with Garcia."The loyalty and passion of Grateful Dead fans are the truest testament to the band's legacy," says a Sirius exec.
