Owen Wilson Drops Out of Next Movie

Posted Aug 29, 07 3:41 PM CDT in Gossip Arts & Living

(Newser) – Owen Wilson won’t appear in Tropic Thunder after an alleged suicide attempt that's made the actor tabloid fodder, Fox News reports. Wilson was to join the production next week in Hawaii but has struck a “mutual agreement” with director Ben Stiller. The news comes on the heels of an Us Weekly report that Wilson was addicted to cocaine and heroin.

The drugs were responsible for his breakup with actress Kate Hudson, the report said, which in turn may have led to his suicide attempt Sunday in California. Tropic Thunder is already 6 weeks into production, but Wilson had only a minor role. Wilson remains well liked, an analyst says, "and people in general really feel bad for him right now."
