'Absolutely Nuts' Birthers Fueling Town Hall Wig Outs: Gov

Birther "crazies" are fueling ugly confrontations at town hall meetings about health care reform, complains Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell. “The birthers are a perfect slice of people who have lost their rationality" whose "obsession is hurting the Democratic process," he said on Hardball yesterday. The so-called birthers insist President Obama is an undocumented alien despite "clear evidence" that he was born in Hawaii, said the Democratic governor. They're "absolutely nuts," he added.

“I’ve never seen ugliness and rage like this in all my years in office,” said the two-term governor who once also served as mayor of Philadelphia. Rendell made his comments the same day a man packing a pistol was questioned by cops—but not arrested—at a New Hampshire town hall attended by Obama. Rendell appealed to “the vast majority of Americans who are still good, honest, decent people to step up and say no to these crazies.” (More Pennsylvania stories.)
