Freed Journo Ling Shops Book With Sister

Book to explore issues of sisterhood, journalism

(Newser) – That was quick: One of the journalists imprisoned in North Korea and freed earlier this month is shopping a book proposal, the Wall Street Journal reports. Laura Ling’s book will be written in collaboration with her sister, Lisa, and proposes to deal not only with Laura's detention but with sisterhood and journalism. A publisher who saw the proposal said the angle seemed more compelling than a book specifically about her time in North Korea.

Just what I want to read: a book written by a person who acted stupidly and profited from doing so. I suggest this clause for her epitaph: "Journalism to me was more than making a quick, fast buck."

Agreed. 'We were so scared, they made us pee with the door open...' That's pretty much all we're gonna hear.

What a stunt. Much to do about nothing; yet all players are made to look like heroes. They are not and I hope we, the public, realize it - don't buy the book.
