Archie-Veronica Wedding Sparks Fan Protest

A comic book store owner and Archie fan is so upset that the comic hero is marrying Veronica after 67 years that he’s selling his copy of the series’ first issue in protest, the AP reports. Girl next door “Betty is it. Not Veronica," says Dave Luebke. "This is serious.” The comic book is likely to score $30,000 at auction today.
Luebke says 99% of his customers agree with him on the eternal Betty-or-Veronica debate. But an auctioneer says the sale might be more about the cash. Covers of future issues indicate Archie will marry Veronica, but there may be more to the matter than meets the eye. Archie Comics' editor in chief tells disappointed fans “to stick with it. Read through it and you'll see what happens.”
