Va. Tech Shooter Denied Homicidal Thoughts

Share

(AP) – Recently discovered records show the Virginia Tech gunman denied homicidal thoughts to a school counselor nearly a year and half before the worst mass shootings in modern US history. Seung-Hui Cho denied the thoughts in a session with counselor Sherry Lynch Conrad on Dec. 14, 2005. On April 16, 2007, Cho killed 32 students and faculty members on campus and took his own life.

Cho met with Conrad after he was detained in a mental hospital overnight because he had expressed thoughts of suicide. "He denies suicidal and/or homicidal thoughts. Said the comment he made was a joke. Says he has no reason to harm self and would never do it," Conrad wrote. The counselor wrote that she gave Cho emergency contact numbers and encouraged him to return, but he didn't make an appointment.

Well it's not her fault she couldn't help him. He's the only person responsible for the atrocity. Reply

As a mental health professional, I can say that someone's state of mind 1 1/2 yrs before the event is totally irrelevant. In exreme cases of mental illness, state of mind a day before the event is not always an indicator. Reply

No he was a mental case, and a seriuosly disturbed individual. So unless you can show valid reference links to this whack job and the NRA or Republican party, you are just running off at the mouth. Typical liberal Reply

No. Fegelah is referring to the outcome of the shootings. G. Gordon Liddy spoke on campus and advocated for consealed carry on campus. There is a strong push to allow the right to keep and bear arms on college campuses. In Ohio consealed carry passed with the blessing of Law Enforcement. I was told by one officer that anyone who is liscensed for consealed carry should have his firearm with him at all times. There is also homeland security training in the local communities. The NRA is in agreement with this. Cho is not an agent of the NRA or the Republican Party. But his actions have helped support the need for gun rights in the effort to secure the local community. I would that there be a National Consealed Carry Law Passed that would standardize the requirements for consealed carry and be enforced in all states. This would do away with the territorial lack of reciprocity acrioss state lines and better unify the nation with respect to this issue. If this is not addressed, be prepared to see Obama be a one term president. Open carry is the law of the land. But Americans should not be forced to visually advertize that they have a firearm. Reply
