Rumor Mill: Palin's Moving to Rhode Island

State's GOP boss has to 'question her sanity'

(Newser) – Word on the street is that Sarah Palin is planning a move to Rhode Island—but so far, it’s just one rumor among many. Seems a bit of an odd choice: It’s a left-leaning state whose former senator has called Palin a “cocky wacko,” notes Randal Edgar in the Providence Journal. The rumor began in a gossip column of the Anchorage Daily News, which isn't all that sure about its veracity but adds that “she’s never running for office again."

Instead, she would leave the nation’s biggest state for its smallest “with $7 million from her book and a contract with Fox.” The state’s GOP chairman says “we’d certainly welcome her,” but “anyone who wants to move to Rhode Island, we would have to question their sanity.”

(NEWSER) - Sarah Palin may be the former governor of Alaska, but she's getting the state's legal help in the present. Activist Chip Thoma is suing Palin for at least $100,000, for what he says was her role at the helm of a campaign to "punish, embarrass, discredit, and silence" him after he griped about tour bus traffic that swamped the narrow streets around the governor's mansion following her failed 2008 bid for VP. Assistant Attorney General Dale House says it's not unusual for the state to get involved when a suit stems from something a person did in the course of official duties. More»

(NEWSER) - If you loved TLC's Sarah Palin's Alaska, you're in luck. The channel is getting up close and personal with another side of Palin—her girly one. The Alaska hair salon where Palin gets her up-do style will be the subject of a reality show on the network this fall, reports Reuters . Missing Palin Emails Released

54 pages inadvertently left out of first release

(NEWSER) - Alaska released 54 more pages of Sarah Palin's emails yesterday, but it looks like they won't be much juicier than the first 24,199 pages. A state rep says the emails, which are from Palin's first month as governor, were inadvertently left out of the first cache . Most of the newly released emails were sent from aides to Palin, with only a few coming from the governor; the messages were also heavily redacted, the AP notes. More»
