(Newser) – Brad Pitt thinks Inglourious Basterds is so good that no one should ever bother making a World War II movie again, People reports. “I believe that Quentin put a cover on that pot. With Basterds, everything than can be said to this genre has been said,” he said in an interview with a German magazine. “The film destroys every symbol. The work is done, end of story.”

As for Tom Cruise’s Valkyrie, the last big-name World War II flick to hit screens, Pitt says there’s no comparison. “It was a ridiculous movie,” he says.

Alas, movies are how many people get any grasp of history, as horrifying a thought as that is. Maybe this could be the last silly fantasy-in-Nazi-uniforms movie. Oh, and Brad? Get over yourself. Thanks.

I hope it's the last WWII movie - and while we're on the subject, let's end the WWII games.
