'Skank Blogger' Remains Defiant

Share

(Newser) – The blogger at the center of a lawsuit against Google has defended comments calling a model a skank, reports the New York Daily News. "I feel my right to privacy has been violated," said New Yorker Rosemary Porter, 29, whose identity was revealed under court order after model Liskula Cohen, 37, filed suit. "This has become a public spectacle and a circus that is not my doing. Before her suit, there were probably two hits on my web site."

Porter says she now plans to sue Google for failing to protect her identity. The catty blog post was apparently sparked after Cohen, who's an acquaintance of Porter, bad-mouthed the blogger to a former beau. The court case could have major ramifications for other bloggers making stealth attacks under the cover of anonymity.

When exactly did an opinion become illegal anyway? This sounds like a cat fight that got out of hand and made public. Reply

Great quote from the source --- "I'm ready to take this all the way to the Supreme Court," Strazzullo said. "Our Founding Fathers wrote 'The Federalist Papers' under pseudonyms. Inherent in the First Amendment is the right to speak anonymously. Shouldn't that right extend to the new public square of the Internet?" Reply

Anonymity is just part of our new society where people don't take responsibility for their actions. (Says the guy with Zorro as his user name.) Reply
