Obama Vacay: No Kennedy Visit, No Golf With Tiger

(Newser) – The Obama's week-long vacation in Martha’s Vineyard brings the president close to Sen. Ted Kennedy's Hyannis Port vacation home, but the First Family has no plans to visit the ailing senator, reports WCVB Boston. The White House deputy press secretary shot down another "bad rumor" that Obama would play golf with Tiger Woods.

"He wants you to relax," the sandals-clad staffer told the press corps. "Have a good time, take some walks on the beaches. Nobody's looking to make any news."

Obama Barely Ekes Out Wins in Arkansas, Kentucky

Nabs 60% of the vote or less in latest primaries

(NEWSER) - He's already clinched the Democratic nomination, but President Obama's performance in last night's primaries wasn't exactly definitive: In Arkansas, he was opposed by a Tennessee lawyer who claimed 40% of the vote to Obama's 60%; in Kentucky, Obama won almost 58% of the vote but another 42% voted "uncommitted." (Mitt Romney fared better, but still not all that well, in the two primaries, Politico notes.) John Wolfe, Obama's Arkansas opponent, was also on the ballot in the Louisiana, Missouri, and New Hampshire primaries, and will be on Texas' ballot as well. (NEWSER) - More trouble for the Obama administration's mandate requiring most employers to cover birth control: Now the University of Notre Dame is suing, the AP reports, claiming that the mandate violates religious freedom. Observers had been waiting to see what step Notre Dame would take as the US' most prominent Roman Catholic school. US Roman Catholic bishops were not satisfied by the White House's attempts to accommodate religious groups, and other religious colleges have already filed their own lawsuits. More»
