Justice Report Recommends Prisoner Abuse Investigations

Share

(Newser) – A report by the ethics office of the Justice Department recommends reopening a dozen cases of alleged prisoner abuse, a move that would expose CIA employees to prosecution if it's determined they tortured terrorism suspects, reports the New York Times. Legal experts predict Attorney General Eric Holder will launch a new criminal investigation later this week—despite President Obama's desire to ignore Bush-era abuses.

The report recommends that about half of the original cases be be reopened, including that of a prisoner captured in 2003 by Navy Seals who died in Abu Ghraib. Holder reacted with disgust when he first saw classified briefs by the CIA inspector general which detail the use of guns and power drills to threaten detainees, according to associates. Later today Holder will release a huge document detailing prisoner abuse, dating from 2004 but sealed until now.

You know what? Many may disagree, but if it were up to me, I'd offer a deal...the deal is: rePUGS, get behind the health reform *complete* package and we'll drop this hot potato. I don't want to see them get off so easily either, but the bullshit tactics on health reform are miring us down in muck unnecessarily. Today, I took my mom to the doctor & he changed a couple of her prescriptions. I went to pick them up & one was denied by BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD because it wasn't "due" to be refilled yet. She was taking 3 a day of these pills & the doc cut her back to 2 a day. But BCBS says it can't be refilled until the end of the month. Now, tell me...if she was taking 3 a day previously & I've been diligently filling her little pill box as per that prescription, then she is in fact DUE a refill tofuckingday. I am pissed. I know these torturing bastards need to go down for what they did, but we ALL know the people who allowed & encouraged it, Bush & Company, will never, *ever* be touched by the long arm of the law over it. And, I don't give a much of a damn about putting the minions in jails, therefore, someone needs to go in the back door, tell the rePUGS it will go away if they will get behind health reform. If they don't, then even if Bush & Company don't go to jail, it's going to put this country and the rePUG party through HELL for all of this to start *truly* coming out....as it most certainly will. Sorry for turning this one into being about health care, but I fucking HATE insurance companies. For people who don't believe in god or the devil, I can't find god, but *here* is the devil...the insurance industry. Reply
