Starring as Susan Boyle: Robin Williams. Maybe.

(Newser) – A biopic of Scottish singing sensation Susan Boyle just got some added star power, the UK tabloid Daily Star reports. Robin Williams, no stranger to cross-dressing, has been approached to play the dowdy Britain’s Got Talent songstress. “I’ve been asked if I want to play Susan in the movie,” says Mrs. Doubtfire's alter ego. “I think she’s incredible.” To prepare, he's reportedly been trying out an impersonation on friends.

Potter on M*A*S*H: Actor Harry Morgan, 96, died this morning at home in Los Angeles of pneumonia. Variety notes a neat bit of trivia on the role: He first appeared on the show in 1974 as a "deranged general," earned an Emmy, and impressed the producers so much they asked him to replace the departing McLean Stevenson as the unit's top officer (one who was very much not deranged). (NEWSER) - Amy Winehouse had written an entire album of songs before her death but sadly for the late singer's fans, most of it exists only on paper. The album would have been her third, but she was in no rush to release new material, says music producer Salaam Remi, who worked on Winehouse's albums Frank and Back to Black. Instead, she planned to record a jazz album with a "supergroup" including Questlove of the Roots, Remi says. More»

(AP) - Producers say the spectacular rise to fame of singer Susan Boyle is being turned into a stage musical that will tour Britain, the US, and Australia. But if you're hoping to see the internet sensation herself, you're out of luck: Scottish actress Elaine C. Smith has been cast as Boyle. The aptly-named show, I Dreamed a Dream, is due to open March 2012 in Newcastle, before a six-month tour.
