US Airways Raising Bag Fees

Domestic checked-bag fee increases by $5

Share

(Newser) – US Airways is following the lead of its competitors and raising bag fees, reports the East Bay Business Times. On domestic flights, the first checked bag will cost $25 and the second will cost $30, a $5 bump for both. If the bags are checked at the airport instead of online, tack on another $5 each. On transatlantic flights, the airline is adding a $50 fee for a second checked bag ($55 if done at the airport).

Just raise the ticket price instead of this nickel-dimeing... it's frightening enough surrendering your luggage before boarding, not knowing what kind of condition it'll be the next time you see it - or IF you'll see it - much less having to pony up $$ for this privilege. Ridiculously insulting. Reply

It's not long now until they shove you and all your bags onto a scale, and then charge you based on the total weight. Reply

How much worse can fees and service get? It appears there is no limit to gauging passengers and limiting services. Reply
