Time Warner Enlists Networks for Internet TV Test

'TV Everywhere' to include CBS, HBO, and more

Share

(Newser) – Time Warner has signed up at least a dozen networks for a new Internet TV service, and plans to test the service in select markets soon, the Charlotte Business Journal reports. Onboard are CBS, HBO, Syfy, AMC, and Time Warner’s own TNT and TBS, among others. Time Warner is promising the service, dubbed “TV Everywhere,” will include shows otherwise unavailable online, and those shows will go up quickly after their original airdates.

“TV everywhere is an all-around win for those who love television," said Time Warner Cable’s chairman. “It will give our customers greater access to programs they are already paying for.” Comcast recently signed up CBS and 17 other networks to test its own Internet TV system.

I love my Hulu. There are other free online television services. I doubt I'll pay for television, though, unless we're talking super cheap. Reply

I love it too, and use a piece of software called Playon, along with a converted old Xbox, to stream it, Netflix watch now, and lots of other stuff straight to my big screen TV. I'm about to cancel all cable except for my internet service.

I also love Hulu. I don't have an actual television, so if there's something I want to watch I will watch it on Hulu or surfthechannel. Hooray for internet TV. Reply

I pay for TV but what I hate about it is I am paying for 1000 channels and I only watch about 15. I have a DVR that lets me watch what I want when I want IF I set it up ahead of time AND know what is coming out. Hulu is way better IMO and I would pay for Hulu if I could get it on all my TVs and use it like I do on the computer. Reply

I've been thinking about getting one of those USB digital antenna's for my PC. If the signal is good enough, one can pick up any digital station via their PC. I just can't decide if it's worth it or not as I only have 6 favorite TV shows and I don't know how well it works. Well, 5, now that I sadly remember "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" was canceled. Reply
