DJ AM 'Devastated' Over Recent Breakup

Celebs tweet farewells after OD death

(Newser) – DJ AM was "completely devastated" after girlfriend Hayley Wood broke up with him this week, TMZ reports. The celebrity disc jockey found dead of an apparent drug overdose yesterday had been sober for 9 years, but had struggled with post-traumatic stress disorder since surviving a plane crash last September. As recently as August 15, AM and Wood were seen frolicking happily on a yacht in the South of France.

The death of 36-year-old DJ AM, real name Adam Goldstein, has inspired a flood of farewell tweets from celebs, the LA Times reports. Demi Moore said his "joyous spirit was a gift to us all," Paris Hilton praised his "heart of gold," and Lindsay Lohan wrote, "I can't believe this. I'm in shock. Why? Why?"

Suicide is such a selfish gesture - it does NOT make one a hero, it betrays them as weak Reply

No-one ever claimed that suicide was heroic, lest it be to save others' lives...and that is more along the lines of self-sacrifice than suicide. Weakness is common to all of us. I think it's pretty raw to have a shot at this guy after what he went through in the last months of his life. There but for the...?

suicide isnt a selfish gesture... who said that he wanted to be a hero... yeah it might make people question but not every one can handle every thing that is pushed their way, some things just push people over the edge and people all react differently... you should show some more compassion because anyone could be at that edge and you may never know intill it is to late

My desire for suicide is to live, not to die.. I feel like I am the living dead here in this place. But I'm scared of suicide as there is a possibility of "missing" lessons. For someone to have the guts to commit suicide not only takes balls, but true control of your life (your love breaking up with you is probably the best reason to leave this place). We're the ones stuck here and most of us will never have such dedication as to kill ourselves, even though this planet would be off so much better without us. RIP DJ AM
