A small British town has resorted to posting signs telling truck drivers to ignore their GPS navigation systems because vehicles too big for the hamlet's narrow country roads were trying to squeeze through. Foreign drivers in particular were relying on what their navigation systems told them and missing signs that warned truck drivers not to drive through town.

"They are continuing with their journey, and the vehicle eventually blocks the road for a significant period of time," said a town council official. So, a county engineer designed a pictorial sign—a satellite and a box truck with a red line through it—warning drivers to stay clear of Vale of Glamorgan. If the year-long trial period goes well, towns throughout Wales may also adopt the signs. (More United Kingdom stories.)
