Obama Wouldn't Cover Kennedy: Huckabee

Says under Dem plan he'd be told to 'take pain pills and die'

(Newser) – Passing health care reform in Ted Kennedy’s honor “not only defies good taste, it defies logic,” Mike Huckabee declared yesterday. Adding his own take on Sarah Palin's death panel meme, he said that under Democratic health care proposals, Kennedy would have been told to “go home to take pain pills and die” as soon as he was diagnosed with brain cancer. He called Kennedy a “shining example of why this particular bill is so bad.”

“It was President Obama himself who suggested that seniors who don’t have as long to live might want to just consider taking a pain pill instead of getting an expensive operation,” Huckabee said, noting that Kennedy, of course, chose to have an expensive operation and hold on to life. He said the best way to reform health care would be to give every American access to the health care senators receive.

The end of life options (Emphasis on the word options) were added to the bill by Republicans who are now backpedaling from it because they have demagogued it into something it is not. And as suspected you spoke about something in the bill that was not in there. In other words you pulled it out of your ass, which must be why your arguments stink.

Are any posters on this board on Medicare or have lost an elder recently? Those of us who are on Medicare are just afraid it will get worse than it is. Right now it isn't too bad for most of us but no one has told us what will happen with health reform. We just want some FACTS please. Bullet points... direct answers. How is this health reform going to affect us. PLEASE let us know before the vote. Even if we have no way of stopping it, we still want to know.

Does this mean that he wants equal health coverage for everyone regardless of party? Universal health care will guarantee that. *LOL*
