(Newser) – The so-called Station wildfire in Los Angeles County has now burned 105,000 acres, authorities say tonight, and has claimed 74 structures. “The fire is headed just about anywhere it wants to,” one official told the Times as gusty afternoon winds fanned the blaze, which is threatening the historic Mount Wilson Observatory and a group of communications towers northeast of downtown.

“This is a very angry fire,” he added. “Until we get a change in the weather conditions, I am not overly optimistic.”

So it's a few per thousand. Are you going to go door to door trying to figure out which few it is? "Hello sir, are you going to pack up and move or sit here until you start to burn and then call for help? Please answer quickly, I've got 12,000 more homes to check on." I'm sure in a perfect world you are right. However, that fire isn't going to wait while manpower that should be fighting the fire goes door to door convincing idiots to pull their heads out of their collective asses.

What's the matter with Americans? Lately it seems people can't they look beyond their own situation and get their minds around the larger problem. Its so frustrating to see how many people can only think about themselves, even when its a huge disaster they're facing. And no, I don't think I'm expecting too much even from Californians.
