Justice-Immigration program extradites molesters to federal court

(Newser) – Three Americans arrested in Cambodia for sexually exploiting boys and girls as young as 10 are being returned to the US for trial, CNN reports. They were snagged by a joint program by the Justice Department and immigration authorities, known as Operation Twister Traveler, designed to combat sex tourism. The men, who have all been convicted of sex offenses in the US, will be tried in federal court under a new law specifically targeting Americans in Cambodia.

The men charged in this investigation apparently thought they could pursue their abhorrent desires by leaving the United States to prey on children in another country, but they were sadly mistaken. - US Attorney Thomas P. O'Brien

What? We're ready to execute schizophrenics who kidnap and rape cute little white girls but little Asian children who are exploited and probably would have been drowned like kittens when their conspiratorial abusers were done with them, don't merit any comment? Reply

omg...these were SEX OFFENDERS and they're out of jail and on a child-raping lark in Cambodia?! And there are so MANY of them that special agents have to be devoted to fight "sex tourism?!" It should be called rape tourism. And I can't wait until Secretary Clinton's focus on human trafficking and sex slaves comes to shine a light on all the American men here in the US who rape sex slaves and think it's their right to purchase "whores." They shouldn't be bringing these guys home to the comforts of an American prison. Let them serve their time, say 20 years, sharing floorspace with 50 inmates in a cell big enough for 10 men. Cambodian prisons are hellish and if that's where these perverts want to go to satisfy their selfish urges, let them serve their time there as well. Reply
