DJ AM Spent Last Day on Crack, Pills

Adam Goldstein's apartment littered with drugs; he promised to start rehab

Share

(Newser) – DJ AM lit up a crack pipe in front of his recovery sponsor the day before his death, the New York Post reports in an ongoing effort to piece together his final moments. Friends told investigators Adam Goldstein’s manager and sponsor flew from the West Coast to NYC Thursday after weeks of worry over his erratic behavior and missed appointments, but an agitated Goldstein would only see his sponsor.

After also popping pills in front of his sponsor, Goldstein promised to check himself into rehab after his Las Vegas gig Friday night—but he never made it to that performance. The police who found Goldstein’s body also found his apartment littered with multiple varieties of painkillers and anti-anxiety medications. Friends say Goldstein constantly begged for anti-anxiety pills following last year’s plane crash.

"Mad?" Is it your generation that has taken upon the right to judge others so harshly? You're strong and have lived a perfect life, haven't you? Let's go back. You, uhhh, never failed after trying, made poor decisions, struggled, made mistakes. You live a flawless life now, and have the power within to never be "weak," right? He was famous, I'm sure you're not. You, "Mad," wouldn't know how to handle it if you were. "Mad," you are mad. Mad at anyone who has or had success beyond you, despite your continuous failed attempts. When YOU die, I wonder who all will say, "he was weak." Reply
