(NEWSER) - The Pennsylvania Department of Labor is investigating Jon & Kate Plus 8 to see if the show violates child labor laws, the AP reports. TLC says it complies with all state regulations; the department would not reveal who made the complaint, saying only “any complaint we get, we investigate.” At issue is whether the Gosselin kids are actors, or whether the cameras in their home are simply documenting their lives. TLC officials have announced they're not renewing the contract for Kate Plus 8 (formerly Jon and Kate Plus 8 before Jon left for greener pastures with fewer children). TLC tried to soften the blow by pointing out that the reality series featuring the Gosselin brood of twins plus sextuplets will hit the 150-episode mark by the end of this season, "an exceptional milestone." The judge in their custody dispute ordered the reality show stars to take a 3-hour parenting class, TMZ reports. Apparently it’s required for all Berks County parents fighting for custody, but we’ll just pretend it’s because the judge finds Jon’s bed-hopping and Ed-Hardy-wearing-ways as bad an example as we do.
