Jobs Takes Stage at Apple Event, Talks Health, iPods

Some talk of cancer, but mostly tech

(Newser) – Perhaps as much speculation has surrounded the possible attendance of Apple CEO Steve Jobs at the company’s product event today as what the event will actually be about. The first question is answered, Bloomberg reports: Jobs has made his first public appearance since having a liver transplant during a 5.5-month medical leave this year. He has already taken the stage to MC the event, the Wall Street Journal reports.

A thin but cheerful Jobs started the event by discussing his new liver, which he said came from a 20-something donor who’d been in a car accident. From there on, it was all business: Jobs touted iPhone sales, the primacy of iTunes as a music vendor, and the iPod’s monster 73.8% share of the portable music market. “And Microsoft pulling in the rear with just about 1%,” he joked.
