New SATC2 Details: Carrie's Marriage Gets Rocky

(NEWSER) - Sex and the City 2 may have gotten downright awful reviews, but that doesn’t mean you must give up hope for all future TV-to-movie projects. The Frisky takes a look at eight that are particularly exciting:

1. The Smurfs: Seems like a terrible idea…until you hear that Neil Patrick Harris is attached.
2. 24: Just because the series ended this week doesn’t mean you’ve seen the last of Jack Bauer. But how to squeeze 24 hours into two?

(NEWSER) - The reviews for Sex and the City 2 are in…and it’s possible they’re actually worse than the awful early reviews . The moans practically jump from the page:

• “Call this sequel callow, garish, ghastly, grisly or grotesque—and it is all of those things, plus borderline-interminable at 146 minutes," writes Joe Morgenstern for the Wall Street Journal .
• “We start seeing the sexually free Samantha as utterly pathetic,” opines Mick LaSalle in the San Francisco Chronicle , recalling a scene where she mimes oral sex on a hookah pipe. "Get real, folks. If a man wants a woman who'll behave in public like a 20-year-old prostitute, he'll find an actual 20-year-old prostitute.”

So far, reviewers have not been kind to sequel

• “The only thing memorable about Sex and the City 2 is the number two part, which describes it totally, if you get my drift,” writes Rex Reed in a scathing New York Observer review that goes on to call the movie a “deadly, brainless exercise in pointless tedium” and its characters “vain, narcissistic, selfish, superficial, and really rather stupid.”

All her millions still not enough for Sex and the City star

(NEWSER) - Despite being just as fabulously wealthy as her on-screen counterpart Carrie Bradshaw, Sarah Jessica Parker wants more and more. She kept 12 pairs of Swarovski cocktail glasses (worth $4,680 total), a $9,000 Pucci gown, and a pricey pair of metallic boots from the Sex and the City 2 shoot, reports the New York Post in a not-so-complimentary look at the actress it reports went from rags to “a real-life, modern-day Scrooge.” More»

May be too racy for officials in Abu Dhabi

(NEWSER) - Sex and the City 2 isn't getting much love from the city it calls home—or from the one the girls travel to. Though Carrie et al vacation in Abu Dhabi in the film, fans there may have to go elsewhere see it: United Arab Emirates officials may ban its release because of its racy themes, the Telegraph reports. "To the Emiratis, that 'city' in the title sounds like it's referring to their Abu Dhabi rather than New York," one professor said. "That's a little too in your face." More»
