Wilson YouTube Video Sparks $200K Haul

But 'You lie' rep's foe raises $750K, leads in poll

Share

(Newser) – Joe Wilson has raised more than $200,000 since he shouted "you lie" during President Obama's speech Wednesday—but his Democratic opponent has pulled in more than three times as much, CNN reports. Even worse for the Republican, opponent Rob Miller leads the incumbent, 44%-43%, in a poll conducted after the outburst. And two-thirds of Wilson's constituents say they disapprove of his actions, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Wilson defeated Miller in 2008 by 8 percentage points, the five-term lawmaker's smallest-ever victory margin. Wilson posted a video on his website last night in which he vowed, "I will not be muzzled, I will speak up and speak loudly."

"Joe Wilson has raised more than $200,000 since he shouted "you lie" during President Obama's speech Wednesday—but his Democratic opponent has pulled in more than three times as much," Well well, seems not everyone is so pleased with this buffoon after all, and when he pays the price in Congress he indeed may wish he had not drawn so much attention. And yes, there will be a price extracted for one day he may attempt to get a bill through and a penalty is always close at hand for the jerks no matter the party. Reply

"Well well, seems not everyone is so pleased with this buffoon after all". It also seems that not everyone has an IQ over 90. Joe Wilson showed disrespect for the Office of The President Of The United States, the highest office in the World. Your thinking is flawed, in fact, moronic.

It would be really good news to know that SC could rejoin the conversation rather than the fight. The fight is very old, very destructive. SC is NOT at the fore front of anything for all their pride. Like the aging star in "Sunset Blvd". The south has a wonderful legacy---this just isn't it.

Did a little reading on Mr. Willson today and have an interesting piece of info to add: here is the direct quote and it seems VERY clear why he is making such a fuss: "Wilson spent nearly $1.3 million for the 2008 cycle. The health care industry — among South Carolina's largest economic sectors — has traditionally been his top contributor. His top 20 career donors include the American Hospital Association, the Lexington Medical Center and the American Dental Association, according to the Center for Responsive Politics."

I had just seen that as well and it clearly shows Wilson ties to the Medical Business have his total loyalty and not what is best for America
