(Newser) – A fugitive who’d dodged the law for days was nabbed when he fell asleep after taking a pair of newlyweds hostage in Kansas, AP reports. The couple gave the escaped con pillows and blankets and slipped out unharmed after he dozed off. Now, he’s set to return to Colorado to be charged in a motel murder.

Jesse Dennis Dimmick, armed with a pocket knife, shoved his way into the couple's home after crashing a car, said family members. “They didn't know where he came from," said a relative. The newlyweds managed to text-message relatives after Dimmick barged in. He is also suspected in burglaries in Colorado, North Carolina, and Louisiana.

My sympathies to Reader as well.Could not fathom that pain and anger.I lost my 18 year old son to suicide. Readers story makes me re- think about re-instating capital punishment .

hey Dada..not everyone who has a faith is a hypocrite, and not every athiest is bitter. I don't know what faith or person who claimed to be a good christian has done to you to cause such frequent resentment, and ire, but dude.......that hate will eat you up. Many good people happen to follow a faith of some sort, and actually practice what the dictates of their heart tell them, and are a gentle kind folk. I dont go to church because I have found organized faith....wanting. But I don't attack those tht do go. So please, have a little more kindness than those who wronged you in the past....and just to be a bit of a sarcassso...God bless you

My sincerest apologies Reader, Wraith and UrUndertaker. My choice of words was wrong. Not to make excuses, but I find it disheartening that many in a country that professes to live the christian example so often offers death of an individual as the solution to problems. I have no compassion for this criminal whatsoever but (as a non-christian) I also do not condone the taking of his life as the appropriate response. I know it is difficult and understandable that a victim would not feel as I do but we should also try to remember that this criminal wasn't born this way - something made him this way, whether it be true mental illness or an upbringing that was truly vile and wretched. That being said, I once again offer my sincerest apologies.
