Garridos Suspect in 2 More Cases

Area cops looking to demolish home in search for evidence

Share

(Newser) – Bay Area police are searching Philip Garrido’s home and adjacent properties for evidence of two kidnappings in the late 1980s similar to the abduction of Jaycee Dugard, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Nine-year-old Michaela Garecht was kidnapped in 1988 from nearby Hayward, while 13-year-old Ilene Misheloff was taken 2 months later in Dublin. Hayward and Dublin police are searching the area.

“Original agencies that were on the properties searching were not familiar with our cases,” a Hayward official says. “We're taking another shot at the properties to see what we can find.” The two departments are even considering tearing down the Garrido home to search underneath. “We are working with Contra Costa County and the people who have conservatorship of the property to see if that's possible,” a Dublin official says.

i hope that this dude ends up in Pelican Bay, with a really big cellmate. I work with Michaela Garecht's uncle, and while he is somewhat relieved that there might be closure to this family tragedy, it is disheartening to him to know that his niece probably went through what that other little girl did. If there is a someone/something above they will ensure that this person is treated the same way he treated those little girls over and over. Reply

Too bad our society likes to throw people in jail but doesn't like to kill them. Sure would save a lot of money, time and aggrevation.

@ godawgs, I wish I could be as kind to you but this animal deserves a death sentence. It most likely will come to light he has murdered children who did not "adapt" as well as this poor young lady did, children who could not adapt to survive or male offspring who he saw as a potential rival? No, being raped is to good for this one, if they lock him away he will spend all his time locked away, if he walked the floors they would put a shiv in him and even that is to good for the animal
