In first interview since Ledger's death, Williams opens up about grief, motherhood

Michelle Williams was reluctant to talk to the press after the death of Heath Ledger, because “I didn't know what my boundaries were,” she tells Vogue. She has since figured it out: “I can talk about grief, about single parenting, about trying to balance work and kids. But what I don't have to talk about is what happened between Heath and me in our relationship.” Still, her interview with Sally Singer makes it clear she loved Ledger.
“I was holding it together by a string and a paper clip in the fall and winter,” says Williams, a book lover who found comfort in tomes about loss. “I wish we had rituals about grief,” she continues, adding that she found solace in gardening and “being in nature.” But her daughter with Ledger, Matilda, is her greatest comfort: “Every time I really miss him and wonder where he's gone, I just look at her.”
