Obama Disagrees With Carter on Racism Charge

Share

(Newser) – Sorry, Jimmy Carter: The White House doesn't think hostility toward President Obama is motivated by race, the Washington Post reports. “The president does not believe that the criticism comes based on the color of his skin,” said Robert Gibbs. Carter started a firestorm by asserting just that—the fervent anti-Obama animosity, he said, "is based on the fact that he is a black man." Administration officials say that while race might be a factor for some, people are mostly upset at his sweeping reform proposals.

President Obama, he is so dam adorable with his constant optimism. Even when he has crazy racist assholes on his lawn and nut jobs outside his speaking events packing guns. I have to hand it to the guy, he really believes in this country and all the good in it. Inspiring is the word that comes to mind first. Reply

By and large, I think you're right, Tim, and I don't mean to disparage his supporters, of which I am one. I certainly think the same could be said of his detractors.
