Posted Sep 6, 07 1:08 PM CDT in Arts & Living

(Newser) – Hey, smarty. You went to an Ivy League school and you have a respectable job, so why are you broke? The Consumerist points out 10 money-suckers that plague otherwise intelligent people:

  1. Paying your bills late
  2. Overdrafting and ATM fees
  3. Traffic and parking tickets

  1. Memberships—to gyms, museums, Netflix, and the like—you don't use
  2. Subscriptions to magazines you don't read
  3. Letting food spoil in your fridge
  4. Wasting electricity
  5. Letting money sit in a checking account
  6. Buying DVDs you never watch and clothes you don't wear
  7. Paying too much for cable
