The Hammer reveals hidden talent for lip syncing, air guitar

(Newser) – Tom DeLay strutted his stuff last night, lip syncing, cha-chaing and—stop the presses—shaking his booty to “Wild Thing” on his Dancing With the Stars debut. Politico staffers weigh in on the performance that earned 16 points and led judge Bruno Tonioli to deem DeLay “crazier than Sarah Palin”:

Marty Kady II sums it up nicely: “Well, there’s an image that we’ll never get over: Tom DeLay shaking his butt for America.”
“‘Hot Tub Tom’ is back!” writes David Mark. “On Dancing DeLay showed flashes of the fun-loving party animal from the 1970s he describes in his autobiography.”

“While no one could really call DeLay’s hip shakes, air guitar, or UPS man-gone-Las Vegas brown costume all that seductive, his performance was—I’m shocked to admit—almost graceful,” writes Lisa Lerer. “The Hammer, it seems, can dance.”
The bottom line? “I laughed, I cringed, I sort of enjoyed it,” writes Pia Catton.

Probe Launched Into Whitney's Prescriptions, Doctors

Medical records will be subpoenaed

(NEWSER) - The investigation into Whitney Houston's death is now turning to her doctors and pharmacies. Investigators are expected in the next few days to serve subpoenas on the singer's physicians and the pharmacies where Houston obtained multiple prescription drugs, reports the Los Angeles Times . Officials aim to determine whether the drugs were dispensed properly, and if the singer was receiving too many prescriptions, a source tells the newspaper. Investigators will likely pore over a state-created database of controlled substances prescribed in California. Tracking celebrity prescription drug use can be complicated because they may regularly use drugs prescribed to aides, according to law enforcement authorities. More»
