(Newser) – Former New York Giant Plaxico Burress was sentenced today to two years in prison for possessing an unlicensed gun—the gun with which he accidentally shot himself in the leg at a New York nightclub in 2008, TMZ reports. The footballer, joined by his wife, son, and father at the sentencing, apologized and thanked his family for their support before being taken into custody.
