(Newser) – Sen. Robert Byrd is at the hospital after a fall at his Northern Virginia home, the Washington Post reports. The 91-year-old West Virginia Democrat has been scarce at the Capitol recently after a previous hospitalization that ended in June. The longest-serving US senator ever “apparently stood up too fast this morning,” a spokesman says. “He was taken to the hospital where he is currently being checked out. At this point in time there is no indication that he will be admitted.”

Let it go, Don'tLikeYou ... The NAACP awarded Byrd an approval rating of 100% for favoring its position in all 33 bills presented ('03-'05) to the Senate regarding issues of their concern. In 2005, Byrd proposed an additional $10 million in federal funding for the Martin Luther King memorial in Washington, D.C., remarking that "With the passage of time, we have come to learn that his Dream was the American Dream, and few ever expressed it more eloquently." He was a foolish 24 in 1942 when he joined the KKK. In his latest autobiography, Byrd explained that he was a member because he "was sorely afflicted with tunnel vision — a jejune and immature outlook — seeing only what I wanted to see because I thought the Klan could provide an outlet for my talents and ambitions." Byrd also said, in 2005, “I know now I was wrong. Intolerance had no place in America. I apologized a thousand times ... and I don't mind apologizing over and over again. I can't erase what happened.” He also drove the discussion on Global Warming in the Senate and stood-up against the Iraq War. The KKK was a stupid mistake, but he has done all he can to be forgiven for it.

What were you trying to impress us with, dontlikeyou, your ability to kick an man when he's down or your inability to forgive a person after decades of remorse and dozens of apologies?

No doubt a rumor you started. I'm no fan of the man and never ahve been. Still, your boorish behavior knows no bounds.
