Microsoft's Courier Tablet Is 'Astonishing'

Combines touch-screen and stylus, 'opposite' of Apple's coming entry

Share

(Newser) – Microsoft’s foray into tablet computers looks to be “astonishing,” Gizmodo blogger The Paperboy raves after getting a look at leaked photo of the Courier, which has two screens and opens like a book. It has touch-screen and stylus capabilities, and is in the “late prototype” stage, sources say.

“The Courier user experience presented here is almost the exact opposite of what everyone expects the Apple tablet to be,” The Paperboy notes, “a kung fu eagle claw to Apple’s tiger style.”

A Microsoft faithful gushes after looking at photo of prototype? The device itself maybe good news, but the lame kung-fu metaphors shouldn't count as part of that news. Reply

Ah! Microsoft "in the “late prototype” stage" - so in a year or two the buggy version should be almost ready.

"The exact opposite of what everyone expects the Apple tablet to be." For example, you get to stare at the phrase "Loading personal settings" for nearly five minutes while it starts up. Reply

To be fair, a properly configured PC doesn't suffer from those kinds of problems.
