Former DNC Chief Kirk to Get Kennedy's Seat

(Newser) – Former DNC chairman Paul Kirk will get Ted Kennedy's Senate seat, sources tell Fox News. Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick is expected to make the formal pick tomorrow, assuming the state legislature irons out the logistics today. Kennedy's sons called Patrick to push for Kirk, 71, a Boston attorney who served as an aide to their father and is a close family friend. He ran the Democratic National Committee in the 1980s, up until the presidential candidacy of the other front-runner for Kennedy's seat, Michael Dukakis.

This page contains some very good illustrations of the cynicism and hypocrisy of newser's policy of "de-emphasizing" posts deemed "abusive" etc. The number of thumbs up or down has nothing to do with the process. To be "removed" there must be a certain number of reports of "abuse" as I understand it. However, one can still view the defamatory, abusive comment at the top and even give it thumbs up if one wants to (as long as you are logged in, of course.) What other explanation is there for this other than it is simply a way to force web surfers to register and log in. Now, at the bottom here we see a "de-emphasized" comment by LibertyMan (I think he's the new identity of banned Corona_king -- not to be confused with dear Corona_kinq, who really should change his username now that his nemesis has been banned. What ever happened to Corna_king's Wife?) But I digress...what is libertyman's crime? All I can figure out is that he supposedly violated the "name calling" rule with the use of "dumocrats." How is that worse than rethuglicans or repugs or any of the other myriad insulting labels that the left leaners here are very good at throwing around?

Dude - the comments do not disappear; they "de-emphasized." It's a sly strategy newser uses to force visitors here to log in.

while I must agree, some posts are exceedingly ridiculous, others are blocked seemingly on their right leaning views. (below for example) i recall one article in which several 'democrat is a jerkwad' comments were flagged while several 'republican is a jerkwad' were thumbs upped. Newser is great if your opinion is the same as the majority of the views.
