Bolton: Obama's UN Address Naive, 'Post-American'

Ex-UN rep not impressed by president's focus on 'interests that unite us'

(Newser) – President Obama's address to the United Nations yesterday was long on uniting nations and short on looking out for American interests, complains Bush administration UN representative John Bolton. The "Wilsonian" address was "a post-American speech by our first post-American president," and was "very revealing of Obama’s foreign policy," he notes.

The president packed his talk with references to UN bodies and treaties, signaling "just how much of US foreign policy he wants to run through the UN," Bolton tells the National Review. Obama was so apologetic for the actions of past administrations that the speech became "yet another symbol of American weakness," Bolton argues. "It was all extremely naïve," Bolton concludes. "The president did everything he could to say: ‘Can’t we all just get along?’”

This is all about polishing the turd that was the Bush Administration. The Right thinks that if they spread their bullshit far and wide enough that people are stupid enough to believe it. In the absence of any substantive ideas it's all they really have.

Unless you count the anthrax attacks, OOPS! And unless you count the fact that his incompetency led to 911 in the first place. And unless you count the fact that he couldn't even manage a domestic issue like Katrina (which is more likely to occur than a terrorist attack and prior to Bush "Re-prioritizing" FEMA was the number one worst case scenario on their list). Yeah, he kept us perfectly safe.
