Think Clinton's Impeachment Was Messy? Wait for Obama's

GOP will bow to Beck or Limbaugh if they take back Congress

(Newser) – The GOP will try and impeach President Obama on some ridiculous charge if they're ever able to get Congress back, and it's not going to be pretty, writes Bob Cesca for the Huffington Post. Glenn Beck or Rush Limbaugh will come up with a reason for impeachment and a way to sell it, which won't be hard—the party has already had 100 members of Congress endorse the "cartoonish" czar bill. But contrary to the picture the media is painting, the left wasn't equally "guilty of wackaloon attacks" like these during the Bush years.

There were no shortage of people on the left, and even the "fringe," calling for Bush's impeachment, Cesca acknowledges, but their concerns—even though they turned out to be largely accurate—never became anywhere near as mainstream as the right's ranting about death panels and birth certificates. The '90s will look "quaint by comparison" if the GOP takes Congress back next year, Cesca concludes, and "it's clear that no matter how ridiculous the charges, the media will devour the spectacular drama."

They'll likely concoct some sort of ridiculous charge torn from a Beck or Limbaugh transcript, while generating public support for it using a Brundlefly hybrid of the Southern Strategy and neo-McCarthyism.

If Obama is ever impeached, you can be sure his school-bused in, union dominated, astroturf supporters will protest with the "coolest" signs as artistically engineered by NEA administrators out of the White House and executed in mediocre fashion by recipients of unthanked taxpayer grants. Their chant will be "OurOneNannyTooGoodToUs!" And they'll be accompanied by choruses of indoctrinated schoolchildren rewarded with the honor for having turned in their parents for global warming religious violations. The little, community organizers of our collectivist future will be dressed up as sprouting ACORNs and singing "He Are The World, We Are His Che-ldren" as conducted by an Official Teachers' Union Dues Collector with a nail-studded baseball bat instead of a baton. Oh, picture the teachable-without-dictionaries moment!

(NEWSER) - The White House yesterday signaled a compromise over its contentious birth control decision, and the Wall Street Journal confirms that an attempt to accommodate the Catholic Church will likely be announced today. Details remain hazy, but one source tells the Journal that insurance companies, not religious employers, will become the ones who pay for contraception coverage. ABC News notes the move would be cheaper for health insurance companies than having to cover unwanted pregnancies and complications. Small Donors Gave 48% of Obama's 2011 Donations

(NEWSER) - President Obama continues to be successful raising money through small donations—and this time around, he's outpacing his campaign from four years ago. Last year, almost half of the money raised by the president's re-election campaign came from donors who gave $200 or less in total, a new report from the Campaign Finance Institute shows. In 2007, by comparison, just 22% of the $96.7 million he raised came from donations of $200 or less. No Child Left Behind Waiver Granted to 10 States

At least 28 more plan to seek one

(NEWSER) - Ten of the first 11 states to apply for a waiver from the controversial No Child Left Behind law will be freed from the law's requirements by President Obama today, the AP reports. Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, Oklahoma, and Tennessee received the waivers; New Mexico's application was not approved, but it is working with the White House to get the OK. Another 28 states, plus the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, are expected to seek waivers in the future; the heavily populated states of California, Pennsylvania, and Texas are among those that have not yet signaled they will apply.
