(Newser) – Defiant over the revelation of its secret nuclear facility, Iran today test-fired two short-range missiles and announced it plans to test a long-range missile tomorrow, state media reports. The missiles tested today have a range of 90 to 100 miles, and experts believe Iran is developing them to carry nuclear warheads; the BBC notes that tomorrow's test missile is thought to be capable of hitting Israel and US bases in the Mideast.

I'm starting to think there's no hope for the world.Could they really be planning to use such devices?

It's amusing to hear Republicans denounce President Obama as an appeaser; it was, after all, one of the great Republicans -- Theodore Roosevelt -- who said, "Speak softly and carry a big stick."

There is only one eventuality for this situation, Obama will make a speech to The UN Security Council, and nothing will happen. Israel will do the right thing for the world and their own survival, swift, decisive and brutal. We will float our carriers outside of the short range missile reach; Islamic nations will call for “Death to Israel and the American dogs”; if we’re lucky Ahmadinejad will be caught in the destruction; the United Nations will call for sanctions against Israel; the world will become further divided during a global economic crisis and a match could set of an explosion.
