3 Teens Charged With Murder of Chicago Student

Three youths charged as adults, held without bail, for taped killing

(Newser) – Chicago police have charged three teens with the murder of Derrion Albert, the high school honor student whose vicious beating was captured on video and widely circulated. Silvanus Shannon, 19, Eugene Riley, 18, and Eric Carson, 16, were all charged as adults with first-degree murder and ordered held without bail. Carson is on probation for a previous robbery conviction, but the other two do not have criminal records, the Tribune reports.

"All charged as adults with first-degree murder and ordered held without bail."............No WTF about it, three a-ho0les took lumber and beat a young man to death because he came to the rescue of a friend in trouble....It is well past time to begin teaching this entire country for each action there is a consequence and the piper must and shall be paid no matter your age and ability to hide behind the "I am a minor" garbage...in a nut shell, they want to be bad a$$, let them rot in prison or worse it is time to quit codling Reply

They needed to be taught a long time ago. There are no parents. We're what, 3-4 generations into total media blitz. The parents and grandparents of today were raised by the TV. Our children are the mirror of pop media electronic culture. Tailored for the masses, that's what we have, unthinking acting out by everyone from Bernie Madoff to these young hoodlums, thugs as they think of themselves. Everyone behaves stereotypically. No one mothers, tucks in, talks to, comforts, sets limits, cooks for these kids nor did their parents get much of that. No one fathers, mentors, models, teaches, protects, disciplines these kids nor did their parents get much of that. No one is being humanized. They needed to be taught by families and there isn't much of that going around. Failing that the schools should not leave them behind, but they were definitely not socialized in the schools. Law enforcement is much to late in the game to "teach" most criminals.And you're right, this entire country needs to be taught and there is no one left much to teach them. We have a larger percentage of our population in the penal system than any other country in the world, and a larger number (or percentage, I forget which) of black men in prison than than South Africa. We're among a very few developed nations that still has the death penalty. Whatever we are doing, it is not working.

Chicago is the worst city in the country for street gang violence and thugs. I know - I was born there and have lived there as an adult. It is the only City I spend a lot of time in that I worry about being attacked downtown by worthless, trashy, gangsta vermin. The black community in Chicago has no excuse for their lawless thug behavior. Put these murderers in for life. And Barthy 19 and 18 year olds aren't minors. They are killers. Chicago has no excuse for breeding such animals. The city has a 100 year history of criminality and brutal behavior. Very glad not to live there now. Reply

Observer not EVERYONE in the black communities of Chicago have this mindset. Just like I can't judge every state policeman or governor from the south based on the actions of George Corley Wallace, Jr. PLEASE remember that Al Capone is STILL the most famous Chicagoan. Do you think he had ANY influence on the violence and violent mind frame in the city? With that being said. Yes, there is WAY too much gang violence.

Observer it has nothing to do whatsoever with the color of a community. If you think Black communities are the only places with these problems, you have serious race issues. Doesn't matter if your Irish, Danish, Hmong, German, Polis, etc, if parents are policing their own children there is always going to be violence in communtities.

The death penalty has been put on hold in Illinois by Governor Ryan. A death-row inmate was within hours of being executed, eventhough innocent. In the end, it was the Chicago Police who framed and railroaded the innocent inmate. Guess who their prime witness was in the frame job? Yup - the real perpetrator of the crime. That's corrupt Chicago police for you.

What a Great Society! Two basic laws on the streets - Might Makes Right and the Law of Unintended (Liberal) Consequences. America's cities are good case studies of liberal progressive policies and even the caring people of tolerance who "engineered" these urban social democratic paradises must know the hell holes these neighborhoods have become. As long as the machine politicians get the vote out and then, due to their clout, collect funding locally and from DC for their cronies such as ACORN in the Welfare Industrial Complex, the beat goes on. Just asking, do you think the politicians and union government teachers and all the social service parasites send their own kids to private schools or to public schools? They sure don't school their own kids or live amongst those they "serve" if they can help it. By the way, didn't Obama just allow the Democrats in congress to kill the DC voucher program? Socialist dysfunction is a self-feeding, circular industry. Government intervenes, screws things up, and then says it needs more resources from the productive private sector to "fix" things. It goes round and round and those who feed off it join government unions, get paid well above average, and retire early with sumptuous retirement benefits that would amaze the regular citizens who pay for it all. And how do these government unions secure such above average wages and benefits? Think about it -they "negotiate" with the very same politicians whom they help elect and from whom they can withhold support next election unless they are kept fat and happy. Ina regular business in the private sector, unions cannot "buy" those with whom they will negotiate and, even if they could, there is a disciplining mechanism called the market - if a company were to cave in to union pressure and lavish such wages and benefits on its unions, it could not compete and would go bankrupt. GM, anyone? Government employee unions should be illegal. If the social welfare programs were actually effective, wouldn't many of the politically connected welfare industry people work themselves out of their jobs? Their self interest is to keep their jobs, and the self interest of their boss is to keep a staff working under him. And there is not the discipline of a market with competitors. Hmmm, food for thought. The economic system that goes round and round with a Welfare Industrial Complex on its back will run down and then yield up no more wealth to be redistributed - even if it's "for the children" such as that unfortunate, lumber-clubbed, young man lying in his blood on the street in Chicago.
