Whitman Skipped Voting Due to 'Family Demands'

But that's no excuse, admits former GOP favorite for Calif. gov race

Share

(Newser) – Wanna-be California governor and former eBay CEO Meg Whitman says she skipped voting for 28 years because of her family and her hubby's work. "I was focused on raising a family, on my husband's career, and we moved many, many times," she told reporters. "It is no excuse. My voting record, my registration record, is unacceptable."

It was Whitman's first public response to a Sacramento Bee investigation revealing that she didn't vote until the age of 46, and she didn't register as a Republican until 2007. Until the Bee piece appeared, Whitman was the favorite to win the Republican nomination for California governor. Her main rival, Steve Poizner, has called for her to be disqualified.

Oh come on, zaius. Why do you insist that it's only the Republicans that "can pick them"? It would be a waste of time and electrons to list the Democrats that have screwed up. If you want to go with policy, you can. But be sure of one thing, alsways follow the money. These people, Democrats or Republicans, are all in it for themselves.

I don't think that the GOP has picked her. I think that she just dived in, feet first. She's already in trouble.

Didn't she drive her company into the ground? And still got compensated millions of dollars? If Californians vote her in, they'll deserve what they get. Reply

Bush bankrupted every business he ever ran. Keep in mind he only had a 2% stake in the rangers after putting up only 1% of his own money. The "Real" owners hired him to pick his nose at the ballpark and pretend to own the team.
