Jon Gosselin finally understands what the rest of us have known for a long time: “Jon realized his family was like a trainwreck,” his attorney says, and—saying he wants to prevent “a mortal accident”—he has ordered TLC to cease and desist production on Jon and Kate Plus 8. Gosselin tells The Insider this decision has been in the works since before he was booted from the show.

Thanks to loopholes—including possible breaches of child labor law, missing permits, and the fact that the production deal doesn’t carry over into the newly titled Kate Plus 8—Gosselin’s attorney says the original agreement between TLC and the Gosselins “may very well be ‘null and void’ and unenforceable.” The reality dad “unequivocally believes that his children's continued participation in your client's television production is ‘detrimental,’” the letter to TLC states.
