Nike: We Have No Deal With Vick

Share

(Newser) – Not so fast, Michael Vick. A day after the quarterback's agent announced he had been re-signed by Nike, the sneaker company says it's just not true. “Nike does not have a contractual relationship with Michael Vick," said a spokesman. He added, however, that Vick is getting some free shoes. Nike ditched Vick in 2007 amid the dog-fighting scandal, notes CNBC. "This agent put his Air Vick in his mouth," a marketing consultant tells USA Today.

just another article to let the Vick bashers have another round, forgetting that he paid his time for his crime. Reply

Nobody is bashing Vick and yea he paid for his crime, even longer than he deserved considering some who commit manslaughter get less time (Stallworth) but a shoe contract this quick, not good business sense. Agent shot his mouth off way too soon.

Vick paid for a crime, but that doesn't address the underlying psychosis. Unlike people that commit manslaughter, Vick purposefully, and by all accounts, gleefully tortured and maimed mammals that have pain sensors. And, he did it over and over again. He needs to be kept away from helpless creatures and society in general.

Doing time doesn't equate to gettling a clean slate in the public eye. Would you let a nanny convicted of child abuse who spent time in prison watch your child or grandchild?

@aasigo - who said he was taking care of dogs again? NO ONE. However, our judicial system says that if you pay your time for the crime, then you should have a chance at living with society again, that's why it used to be called "rehabilitation". He should have every chance at a football career again, seeing as that has NOTHING to do with the crime he was found guilty of.
