Kate Heads to Court After Jon Empties Joint Account

Mom of 8 has $1,000 to pay family's bills

(Newser) – Days after his lawyer told Larry King he "doesn't care about the money," Jon Gosselin withdrew hundreds of thousands of dollars from the joint bank account he shares with Kate, leaving his estranged wife with just $1,000. Kate has hired at least two new lawyers, one of whom will be in court tomorrow to demand the return of the funds, RadarOnline.com reports. An account established for the couple's children is intact.

He who has possession does not have to prove ownership, a joint account belongs to both and each can do as they wish with the funds without question. Now she has to prove why she is entitled to have the money instead of Jon, she has money to care for the children as that money was untouched he also did not drain the accounts, he left $1,000.00 so he didn't strip her of all cash benefits. This soap opera is about to turn real ugly and the "sweet" motherly side of Kate is about to be shown for just how shallow it really is, Jon took her one true lover away...$$$$$

The problem for Jon is, while they are in the middle of a divorce proceeding I think she has some legal clout to get that money back. And even if he took it out of the joint account and put it in his personal account, she will still be able to recover some in the settlement.

Actually, there was a mediation agreement in place which denied both the right to withdraw large sums of cash, so in fact they can't do what they wish with the funds without question. She doesn't have money to care for the children; those accounts are trust accounts for the children's future. Leaving $1000 and not stripping her of all cash benefits means nothing legally. But other than that, Reader really nailed that legal opinion.

Cat, no not in a divorce. Many men have suffered the same lovely treatment only difference here is the "man" did the dirty deed. They cut him from the show, fine he shuts down filming then cuts her out of money earned by both but poluted when it hit the joint account. If she were smart and I think she is she still has her "personal" account while the amount might be smaller it is still probably more than you or I have in our account. The leaches err lawyers will take him to court but by the time it is all said and done he will have spent much I am sure and there will be little left. He finally decided to wear the pants in the family but the problem is he waited a bit to late. I think they deserve each other and all that comes with it.

I have an idea. How bout TLC makes a reality show where in which both Jon and Kate are sent to the worsts prisons in America for 3 years. The proceeds would be given directly to the kids and competent parents would then adopt them. Problem solved. Reply

Kate should have transferred half of the money into her own account to protect her share of the assets as soon as Jon started his free-fall spending. Just when you think he can't stoop any lower, he cleans out the joint bank account..tgrabs the money that puts food on his kids' table. He IS the dirtbag people have accused him of being. First on his agenda and list of priorities is to stick it to Kate any way he can. So much for looking out for his kids' welfare and his interest in "becoming friends with Kate." He only cares about himself, and that is all he has cared about ever since he moved out of the Pa. house. I hope he ends up with NOTHING when this train wreck is all said and done. Jon is a low life, it's his own damn fault he was never able to stick up for himself, and now he is stooping so low as to take money from the mouth's of his children. I thought he said on Larry King this had nothing to do with money. If anyone has notice Kate has never said a bad word about Jon while Jon continues to talk badly about Kate every chance he gets. John didn't have a problem with his children filming until he was going to be written out of the show, until his name was going to be taken out of the show. Did you see the episode where one of the kids said mommy your more fun then daddy. Hell, he's not even there that much with his kids, and he openly admitts he would rather be where ever he lives now. He is a evil man, and I don't think he should even be able to see his children, you know he will have party after party while he has them, what kind of attention do you believe they will get then? Attention from a bunch of drunks! He doesn't care about his kids, he admits he is bored when he comes home. Kate is wonderful with them, and his determined to give them as normal as a live as she can. The kids grew up around camera's, it's what they are use to, so it's not hurting them. You, can tell they enjoy the camera people and vis-versa.

I applaud Jon's decision to cause a BEE-STING EFFECT to TLC - ( aka.."The Lie-ing Channel") when he went against the grain and did everything he could to p*ss them off. His strategy worked and finally..he was "let-go" of his binding TLC Contract. It must've been like a Breath of Fresh Air for Jon not to be "bound + gagged" by these money-hungry TLC Execs anymore. First thing Jon did, once his legal obligation and loyalty to TLC was abolished , he happily hung a sign on his gate declaring...." TLC IDIOTS AIN'T WELCOMED HERE NO MORE"....( I laughed my head-off just trying to imagine control-freak Kate's reaction)...I bet she was FURIOUS. ...lol :-) Reply

Alot of the money has been been into trusts for their children.. They both had money of their own..But that was the accoutn that was made for them to pay the household bills.. Both Jon and Kate still live separatelyin the house with all of the kids while it is their turn to be with the children, they decided it is the childrens house so thatthe kids dont have to be moved around all of the time.which is more than most can say anout other divorced parents, Dad picks up kids on weekend takes them to his house mom has kids at herhouse during the week..This way the kids are ALWAYS at home. and the parents rotate in and out causing far less stress to the children .Ithink jons actions as of late have been awful and if not now his childrenwill one day see allof this and there will be someserious resentment toward him forthethings he has done..Not saying Kate is perfect.. He keeps saying he wants his kids out of the media and off the TV , yet he keepsdragging them back in with all of the BS appearences he is making with Larry King etc. His lawyerisa moron.Ihope thatallmembersof this family comeoutr of this ok..
