Dell to Launch Android Phone for AT&T

Company's first mobile device should be out early next year

Share

(Newser) – Dell plans to launch a smartphone that uses the Google Android operating system and runs on AT&T's network, the Wall Street Journal reports. The phone should be out early next year, sources tell the paper. It is expected to have a touch screen, like the iPhone, as well as a camera. Dell may offer the phone on other carriers besides AT&T. The news follows yesterday's announcement that Google and Verizon are teaming up to create Android phones.

AT&T is doomed. When I die, if my funeral has more than two cars, I don't want it planned by Dell. Reply

About 2 months ago, I had an emergency need for a new laptop. I'd heard that Dell's hardware and tech support had gotten less bad, so I took a chance. Big mistake, that; it's been a nightmare.

AT$T days are number if they don't start to build on their network of Cell sites and towers. They are living on the "coat tails" that is Apple and that device's, iPhone, days are number as more Cell company's move to smartphones that are just as good or better then iPhone.. The next two years will be a make or break deal with AT&T if they continue to see the growth in the Cell phone market. If they don't start to improve 3G and data flow, then more and more customers will drop them. Then move over to another company. Reply
