Lee Pitches Phillies Past Rockies in Game 1

Left-hander strikes out five as Philadelphia cruises to 5-1 victory

(Newser) – Left-hander Cliff Lee pitched a six-hitter today as the Philadelphia Phillies opened the defense of their World Series title with a 5-1 victory over the Colorado Rockies in Game 1 of their National League playoff series. Lee, a mid-season acquisition given the start over World Series MVP Cole Hamels, got a pair of RBIs from Raul Ibañez in front of a record home crowd.
